Against CSK, Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 57.

On Tuesday, May 20, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi concluded his Indian Premier League 2025 career with an outstanding innings.  In what else proved to be a disastrous campaign, the Rajasthan Royals ended with their heads held high after his mature innings of 57 off 33 balls helped set up their second successful chase of the season.
Vaibhav, the youngest cricket player in IPL history, was chosen to represent the broadcaster's "Gen Bold vs. Gen Gold" campaign, which pits youthful, courageous players against seasoned veterans.  The fact that Rajasthan was playing the Chennai Super Kings in their last group-stage match may have been poetic.

Earlier in the IPL 2025, Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest T20 centurion.

The 14-year-old demonstrated exceptional cricketing intelligence when playing against the Chennai Super Kings, led by MS Dhoni, who is 43.  Suryavanshi reached his maiden half-century of the season by measuring his innings and playing traditional cricketing strokes while chasing 188 on a slightly spicy wicket where the ball seamed in the early overs.

Compared to his usual performances, this one was quite different.  Vaibhav Suryavanshi is typically an attacking opener who lights up the powerplay with little baggage. His style of cricket is new, bold, and impactful.

However, the 14-year-old performed well beyond his years against CSK at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, building an innings that served as the cornerstone of Rajasthan's chase.  Vaibhav started working the holes on the off-side against pace after realizing he couldn't go all out right away.  The left-hander pounced on anything short once he got his eye in, smashing huge sixes on either side of the ground after forcing MS Dhoni to add spin.
